Pearls for the New Year

Happy New Year!

Do you have your resolutions all lined up for 2018?

Although I don’t really make resolutions each year, I do outline some goals for the year. And as a dietitian, I could give you a nice, crisp list of SMART diet and lifestyle goals:

  • Fill half your plate with non-starchy vegetables for at least 4 meals per week by June 1st.
  • Walk at least 10,000 steps per day 5 days per week by May 1st.
  • Decrease intake of sugar-sweetened beverages to no more than 8 ounces each day (preferably less!) by August 1st.

Great goals, right? But let’s talk pearls.

Pearls aren’t goals or resolutions, but tools that help keep you winning in life – even (especially) when life feels like a barefoot dash through a 10-mile cactus patch. That’s why I’m kicking off 2018 with some pearls that I  cannot wait to share with you.

No matter who you are or what your situation is in life, I genuinely believe that if you take on even just one of these pearls and practice it daily, you will experience a wave of refreshment that can truly change your life.
