Homemade Chia Tea {Plus Job News}

Homemade Chia Tea

I don’t try many foofy treats, mostly because they are expensive.

Homemade Chia Tea

Even if they aren’t truly expensive, I know I can *most likely* make them myself for much less. And they’re better.

Take pizza. I love a good pizza, but I never love paying for it. We can make two of our own veggie lover pizzas (extra large) for maybe $10-$15 worth of ingredients. Yes, it takes time. But so does waiting at Pizza Hut.

We also make our own Tiki Masala that is, dare I say, better than restaurants.

Fresh pico? Definitely.

Boba tea? Absolutely.

The only problem is that we have all but ruined the experience of eating out, for ourselves and our families.

Oh well.

Chia Tea Beginnings

So this chia tea. I tried it as a treat one time; it was on sale and I was on vacation. Perfect timing. The consistency puzzled me at first, but I loved it. It’s like eating Jello that hasn’t jelled yet. How I love Mama Chia.

Steeping Tea

Though it was on sale, I would never pay ~$2.50 as often as I like to drink chia tea {cheapskate alert}.

Chia Seeds

Now I can enjoy my chia drinks for a matter of pennies instead of dollars, with the added bonus of endless variety.

Job News

Ok, so remember last week when I left you hanging on our job situation?

In fear of boring you to death with details, I’ll give you an abridged version.

His:

Kevin had surrendered himself to the fate of a call center job with great potential for making life miserable. Before he officially started, he wanted to see what he could do to avoid chronic melancholy. Connections came through, and he is now working in IT where they are training him on the job.

Hers:

I had begun to see myself as a rather talented receptionist/office worker and hoped that with a couple of part-time office jobs plus Kevin’s job we could squeak by financially. Another connection came through and now I have a better-paying full-time job at a different office.

So now I stand before you with an official RDN position!! Though my current job is close, this one is even closer to home. I get to work with another RDN and siphon from her depth of experience, while also enjoying my very own office (complete with a window).

Kevin gets to work in the world of IT with people who value the process of learning as you work. Instead of working someplace just to pay the bills, he gets to work at a job in a field he enjoys, that also provides great future potential.

All I can say is that networks matter. You may be happy with where you are in life, but that may not always be the case. Invest in your network, you won’t regret it.

Homemade Chia Tea

Now go make some chia tea and do some networking =D
