Every time Kevin and I walk through Bed Bath and Beyond or Target, we (semi) jokingly say, “Hey, let’s get married again!”

I would have no problem at all filling up more registries, and even less trouble using those pretty gift cards that people give you at bridal showers. A wedding gift card was exactly how we ended up with a bamboo steamer, after all.

Autumn Apple Fritter Bread

During our brief stay in Southern California, Kevin and I adopted a favorite little doughnut shop not far from our apartment. It seemed just a little bit wrong for a student of nutrition and dietetics to be frequenting a place of fried pastries, but we only indulged three or four times during our entire 1 1/2 year stay. And we split our two doughnuts over like three days.

This doughnut shop taught me that I was altogether wasting my time on all pastries but apple fritters. On those few early Sunday mornings when we would rattle down to the store in our old Jeep, I was richly rewarded with a fresh apple fritter, the sugary glaze barely even crusted over. If there is one resource I wish I had during college, it is this magazine: Today’s Dietitian.

I had the Food and Nutrition Magazine and JAND coming in the mail, but the first wasn’t very meaty and the second was too dry. I read them now (as much as I can) but back then it just didn’t fit my student needs.
