Healthier twixie bars are the perfect treat to keep around for those times you are craving something sweet. Keep some in the freezer for chocolate emergencies!

Ingredients
Shortbread crust
Caramel layer
Chocolate layer
Instructions
  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Line an 8×8″ pan with parchment paper. Combine crust ingredients and press evenly into parchment-lined pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 10 minutes. Remove from oven and allow to cool.
  2. Combine caramel ingredients in a small saucepan and heat until bubbly. Cook, stirring constantly, for two minutes. Pour over shortbread crust. Allow filling to cool for at least 15 minutes
  3. Melt together ingredients for chocolate layer, stirring well, and pour over caramel layer. Chill to harden chocolate. When cooled, use parchment paper to lift bars from pan. Slice into bars or squares. Store in refrigerator.
