Christmas wish list 2019

Christmas wish list 2019

I know I’ve been pretty absent this year, and I have a very good explanation for that. But for now I want to share my Christmas wish list 2019 with you in case you are looking for a gift idea for your favorite dietitian. I’m not implying that I’m your favorite dietitian, that was just a… Oh never mind.

Yaktrax: Last year I slipped and fell more times than I care to admit. On one occasion I thought I had made my tumble without witnesses, only to find that one of my staff had seen the whole thing. Another time two chocolate cream pies joined me in a re-acquaintance with gravity. Oregon is just more slippery than Colorado I guess. I’d like to keep the falling to a minimum this winter.

Yoga pants: I’m sure I’m not the only one eyeing those advertisements for yoga pants that look like dress slacks. I almost took the bait when the Betabrand pants were on sale on Black Friday, but I still couldn’t make myself spend $40 on them when the reviews were not 100% amazing. These are a smaller investment, and the reviews are decent. I’ll let you know what I think of them.

Wireless headphones: My husband got some of these for his birthday this year, and instead of borrowing them all the time I decided I should get some of my own. I like that they are a lot less likely to fall off and get lost (like AirPods). I’d like to listen to podcasts and audiobooks more, and these would make that a lot easier.

Ankle weights: I spend a lot of time on the couch these days, and I’ve found myself wishing for some ankle weights so I could at least get a little bit of exercise in while I lounge.

Phone charger: I first learned about these from a Pulling Curls podcast. They seem like a great idea for people that use their phone a lot and can’t always be near an outlet to charge it.

Food processor: This year we caved and bought a Vitamix. I’ve wanted one for a long time and this year we finally got one. It’s a great blender, but it doesn’t do everything a food processor can. I really want a food processor for things like making nut butters and energy bites. I tried to make some energy bites a while back from Lindsey. The Vitamix was not up for it.

Almond Butter: I could get this for myself but it just seems frivolous. I believe a jar would fit in my stocking…

Fun kitchen towels: My mother in law gets these for me sometimes, and I love it. I’m especially fond of seasonal towels and ones with witty humor.

Fox mug: I love the mugs that came with our dish set. For one reason, they’re famous. They have appeared on Elementary as well as The Mentalist. But with all the company we’ve had lately, I’m thinking it would be a good idea to have a few more distinguishable mugs. I can only answer the “is this my cup?” question so many times before losing my mind.

Hand mixer: We have a very nice Kitchenaid stand mixer that we received for our wedding, but there are times when I just want a simple appliance to whip egg whites without a lot of fanfare.

Microplane grater: It’s great for fresh nutmeg and citrus zest. It also doubles as a charming photo prop.

OXO containers: I have yet to accumulate too many of these. They are fantastic. I really like the new stainless collection, but the white are just as nice. These would also be good for elderly people that struggle to unscrew lids.

Foodie jewelry: Just for fun 🙂 and so I can be easily identified as the food service director.
