Wish list 2020

It already looks like Christmas in our corner of Oregon, and that’s not just because I bargained for setting up the tree on Halloween. We’ve had some beautiful fluffy snow the last week that makes me very grateful for my three-minute commute to work.

But you’re not here to learn about my commute or my Christmas tree. So here we go!

Wish list 2020

1. glass jars

These will serve as the new home to my cookie cutter collection! I mostly use cookie cutters for cutting biscuits and pie crust because I’m not really a fan of cut out cookies. There are just much better cookies to be had in my book. But I do love collecting cookie cutters.

2. Fur collector

It’s disheartening when clothes come out of the dryer with hair on them, but there’s only so much a dryer can do when you have as many animals as we do. These should help.

3. Mesh strainer set

In an effort to stay out of the grocery store more (for a number of reasons), I’m venturing into the land of homemade nondairy milks. Oat milk will be a lot easier to make with one of these than the little yardsale strainer I’m currently using.

4. Flour Water Salt Yeast

We’re baking more bread these days (thanks, Great British Baking Show) and we’d like a good staple book on bread.

5. Hanging wire bins

All I need to do is find a wall to hang this on and I will have a superb storage space for potatoes, yams, onions, etc.

6. Gluten-free vegan baking book.

I’m not heading for the gluten free bandwagon anytime soon (it’s a pandemic. I’m still enjoying my obligatory sourdough starter). But I do want to keep up on the latest and greatest gluten-free tricks so I can take care of the people in my life who can’t do gluten. And the vegan bit is good because I *still* can’t get away with eating dairy. It’s been a while since I last tried, but we’re having enough fun as it is with teething. We’ll leave the dairy iron out of the fire for now.

7. In Praise of Wasting Time

I’m always looking for a good book (and time to read it). I heard about this book earlier this year and I’m anxious to check it out.

8. Hooded weighted blanket

This thing is going to be my new habitat. A hooded weighted blanket? That is just what I need after a day at work.

9. Broccoli badge reel

Just a little something fun to lighten up the work environment. I could go for the broccoli or the pineapple.

10. Funny kitchen towels

I got this one last year, and now I have my eyes on this one. And this one. And this one. Okay, I’m done.

What are you wishing for this year?
